Vacío uses intelligence and the experience of tango to work body, movement and relationships. Seven dancers occupy the space with the reassurance of being able to count on each other. They let themselves be taken by their bodies, by the music and by the knowledge that one look is enough for a connection to be made. Tango is a dance of encounters and from its internal codes Folco builds a performance about spatialities, the wish to move and the importance of beauty and human relations. A dance in which each dancer seduces the spectator making him or her want to dance tango. In Panorama 2010, Federica Folco presented Periférico: proyecto tango, where she began experimenting with the combination of tango’s sensuality with elements of contemporary dance.

Since 2009 Compañía de Danza Periférico has been directed by dancer and choreographer Federica Folco, in collaboration with contemporary as well as tango dancers. Together they research the language of tango using a contemporary approach to body and movement. Since 2000 Federica Folco creates works with artists from Uruguay and other countries – the most recent being Nije (2014), Variación (2013) and Acciones afectivas (2011). She also coordinates Insurrección LAMASA, an investigative project, and runs dance creation workshops in several countries.
